December Already

Can you believe it? In 3 weeks it will be Christmas. Where has this year gone? My "To Do List" is still way to long. I have lots of Christmas thing still to do, plus lots of regular list stuff that is not completed either. I guess I had better get busy.

It sure was nice to wake up to clear skis after yesterday icky weather. It was hard to believe that we had horizontal rain, plus getting 4" of new snow all in one day. I think the town of Seward got worse weather than out of town. It will be fun to see what the roads are like when I go to town to the Arts and Crafts Fair (one of my favorite things Seward has in the winter).

I just finished listing to a great live Internet training with Janet Legere. She is very motivational. If I could do 1/3 of what she asks, I'd be on top everything I want to complete in my life.

I also got a great email from the Cinch Brag Book. Getting into that book is a must do on my list. If you are concerned about your Calcium and vitamin D. Take time to read the following:

New Calcium and Vitamin D Intake
Recommendations – What You Need to Know

Hello Shaklee Family,

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) just released the report "Dietary Reference Intakes for Calcium and Vitamin D" that establishes higher recommended intake levels for vitamin D. The new Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for children and adults ages 1-70 has been increased to 600 IU/day and the RDA for those aged 71+ has also been raised to 800 IU/day. The Tolerable Upper Intake Level was raised from 2,000 to 4,000 IU/day for adults. Calcium intake RDAs remained essentially the same with a range of 700 – 1,300 mg per day depending on age and sex. The full report can be accessed at http://shaklee.custhelp.com/rd?1=AvUg~wqRKP8Sx9LbGvAe~yL~Jvsq~6T~JUT3jjr~&2=11646.

We recognize that the goals of the IOM are to make broad-based recommendations for the entire population, and develop reference values that serve to guide nutrient guidelines for the US and Canada. We applaud the IOM for updating the vitamin D and calcium nutritional reference values established in 1997, for the potential far-reaching benefits to public health, but we also believe that such modest adjustments in recommended intakes may under-serve the many population groups who are at potential risk for low intakes of calcium and/or vitamin D..

We also want to take this opportunity to reiterate that Shaklee’s mission is to support optimal health for everyone, and in this case, we believe the potential benefits of calcium and vitamin D supplementation go well beyond simple nutritional adequacy and bone health. Scientific research links vitamin D inadequacy to an increased risk for certain cancers, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and diabetes, and higher intakes of vitamin D may help reduce the risk of these diseases. These are precisely the reasons we conducted our own extensive review of the scientific literature and sponsored two independent vitamin D research studies. We also recently adjusted our individual vitamin D intake recommendations based on an individual’s risk factors for vitamin D insufficiency.

It has been estimated that as many as 80% of Americans may have “insufficient” blood levels of vitamin D and there are many reasons why low vitamin D levels seem to be commonplace today. The season or calendar month is a major risk factor for vitamin D insufficiency because sunlight is less efficient during winter months at triggering vitamin D production in the skin. The risk for vitamin D insufficiency rises as sunscreen use and time spent indoors increases. The latitude of your residence is another determinant of sun exposure and those with darker skin are less efficient at converting sunlight to vitamin D. Other factors that can increase risk for vitamin D inadequacy include increasing age, increasing body mass index, lack of exercise, and low intake of fish and other vitamin D rich foods in the diet.

While we support the IOM for the long-awaited adjustments to the calcium RDAs, increases to the vitamin D RDAs, and the increased Safe Upper Levels of Intake (UL) for vitamin D, we also remain committed to individualized and potentially higher vitamin D intake recommendations based on an individual’s unique vitamin D risk factor profile.

For more information about calcium, vitamin D, and your health, talk with your doctor or healthcare professional to discuss the steps you should take to achieve optimal calcium and vitamin D intakes. To obtain an individual vitamin D intake recommendation from Shaklee Health Sciences, based on your own risk factor profile, take the Vitamin D-Ology questionnaire at http://shaklee.custhelp.com/rd?

Sending warmest regards,

I just got plowed out. I did not realize there was as much snow as there is. I had to go move my car. Now this afternoon I get to go clean up the small berms that are left. It will be good exercise for me.

Well, I need to get this completed and my day going. Have a great week.

New!! New!! New!!

Only 43 days until January 1,2011. Can you believe that it is one week until Thanksgiving and 36 days until Christmas? I hope be cooking great meals on those great days. These are two my favorite holidays. I hope that everyone has a fantastic holiday season!

We have been having really cool weather. Yesterday it was -4 with wind chill. I'm glad that most of our snow has disappeared. If we don't get any more snow all winter, I'll be very happy.

I have a new possibility for more income (besides Shaklee). I just interviewed for a new job. I hope to hear tomorrow. I will be very disappointed if I don't get this job. With the economy the way it is, I can most definitely use a pay raise.

I am going to try a new strategy for getting people involved with Shaklee. I'm looking for anyone that may know someone that needs some extra money, their home detoxified, wants to loose weight, or want to get healthy. Shaklee can do all of these things. This week many Shaklee Distributors are on a free cruise because they reached their 350 point goals. Next year the free trip is to Atlantis. Shaklee is also now doing car payments for people that have three distributors working under them. Please let me know if there is anyone they know that can use any of these life changing opportunities.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excited!!

I'm so excited. The 2011 B & B reservations are starting to arrive on the Internet. I think this is the earliest I've every had reservations. I had two inquiries about B&B reservations today. Let's hope next Summer is even better than last Summer.

Can you believe this snow? I've just shoveled 22" off the deck. The only thing good about this snow is that I exercise more than normal. I've very nervous about getting plowed out so I can go to work tomorrow. If I don't get plowed I hope my RAV can get me through all the snow.

I'm starting to think about Thanksgiving dinner. I'm planning to stay at home, not get out of my PJ's, cook for no one but me. I love to cook, but this year I don't want to have to clean house, be able to stay at home, and just enjoy my day by myself. The bad part of Thanksgiving is that I have to work the next day. :( This is one thing I miss about teaching.

My Shaklee is going better than it was. I wish that more people would realize that Shaklee is all natural, no toxins and has been tested more than any other company claiming to be all natural. It may cost a little more, but what price can you put on your own health and wellness. Plus you can make a good living being a Shaklee distributor.

Hmmmmmmm!

Things that make you say "HMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!

Well, it has been a while since I wrote on my blog. Fall is pretty much over and winter is fast approaching. We now have snow on the mountains down to tree line. The last couple of mornings it has been very frosty. Luckily I had my studded tires put on this week. On Thursday and Friday the road to work was slick.

My summer gardening is done. The plants have either been put in storage for the winter or become worm food. I also planted over 200 bulbs for next Spring. I can hardly wait to see them all blooming. I also have some more exciting plans for planting flowers and making some new flower beds.

It is hard to believe that tomorrow is Halloween. I wonder how many trick or treaters will come. There is a huge carnival in town. I know lots and lots for families go to the carnival plus, trick or treat in the neighborhood.

Shaklee is just the same. I wish I could get family, friends and just about anyone to understand how the truly pure the cleaning products are or how natural the nutritional product are, but most of all I wish I could convince everyone just how much money could be made if you became a Shaklee Distributor.

Fall

These past few days/weeks have been wonderful. We have had lots of wonderful weather. Most of my outside work is completed. I've planted about 300 bulbs, built a new flower bed out by my B&B sign, cut down some alders, cleared away some brush and put away the flower pots that I want to winter over the plants. Now I'm ready to enjoy whatever comes my way.

I'm sorry that I think the B&B season is now over. No more calls or emails. Now I have to decide what to do for prices for the coming Summer. Anyone want to come and stay or if you know anyone coming to Seward? I can make you a great deal. This is the best season I've had in three years. I hope that next Summer is even better than this season.

Oh, this is just a reminder that I no longer have a land line. Email or send me a private message on Facebook to get my cell number.

My Shaklee business is not going as well as I would like, but I'm still working on it. I guess if it was easy everyone would be a member and I would not be making any money.

Have a great minute/hour/day/week/month. Please feel free to contact me or comment on my blog!!

Snow???

Well, we have had a bit of frost, the leaves are all falling to the ground and it feels like it could snow. We now have lots of termination dust on the mountain tops. The view out the front windows is not as wonderful as it was last Friday. I wonder how long it will be before we have snow on the ground. =(

I need to get better at taking pictures and adding them to my blog. I know I don't have many people that read my blog, but it is good writing practice. As some of you know, I hate to write.

Why is it that by Friday night, I'm so tired, I have a hard time staying up past 9:00pm? If I'd go to bed at 9:00 I'd be back up by midnight and up for the rest of the night.

Not much to tell this week in the way of the B&B. I'm kind of glad that it has slowed down. I'm ready for a short break, but I'll miss the mortgage help.

Have a great first of October!!
